WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator John Thune (R-South Dakota), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today discussed the growing scandal over the investigation into the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) targeting of conservatives and the “missing” IRS emails, saying it is time for the president to get personally involved in getting to the bottom of the scandal.
“In the 21st century, emails just don’t go missing – it just doesn’t happen,” said Thune. “And there doesn’t seem to be an explanation other than ‘we don’t know where they are.’” He went on to say, “I think the president needs to get involved. This is his administration. This is his IRS.”
