McConnell: Slashing Medicare is Not the Way to Go

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday regarding the importance of getting it right on health care reform:

“At the moment, the final details of the Democrat health care plan are largely unknown to the American people. That’s because those details are being worked out in private by a handful of senior Democrats and White House officials.

“But we do know the basics. The Democrat bill will be about 1,500 pages long, it will cost about a trillion dollars, it will raise insurance premiums and taxes, and it will slash Medicare for seniors by about a half a trillion dollars over the next ten years.
