Hutchison: “Our chief concern must be her commitment to the rule of law”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On the nomination of federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today released the following statement:
“Confirming Supreme Court nominees is one of the Senate’s most important responsibilities. As the Senate carefully reviews the qualifications of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, our chief concern must be her commitment to the rule of law. I look forward to a fair and open confirmation process as we work to ensure our next Supreme Court Justice will defend and protect the Constitution through impartial judgment and judicial restraint,” said Sen. Hutchison.
