Barrasso Statement on the End of Title 42 and the Need to Secure the Border

“It is going to be an invasion like we have never seen in the history of this country.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, issued the following statement on the growing crisis along the Southern Border ahead of the end of Title 42 today.

“We have a dangerous and deadly national security crisis unfolding at our Southern Border. The crisis is soon to become a catastrophe.

“This has Joe Biden written all over it because on his first day in office, he started rolling out executive orders. He rolled out the red carpet for illegal immigrants to come to the United States – to the point that now five million illegal immigrants have come. And [on Tuesday] over 10,000, which is the highest number ever.

“I’ve been to the border many times. It is now worse than ever before. With rolling back Title 42, the president is essentially sending engraved invitations saying, ‘Come to America.’ It’s a catastrophe. The caravans are lining up at the border, and it is going to be an invasion like we have never seen in the history of this country.

“[The president] ought to start listening to the Border Patrol because they know what works. They have been telling us. It is follow the law, finish the wall, and finally bring back the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.”
