Senate GOP to Biden: Secure the Southern Border

Americans want their government to strengthen the Southern Border. Joe Biden’s years of open-border policies have made America poorer and made criminal cartels richer. Biden’s open-border policies are emboldening the drug cartels, sex traffickers, and making every community less safe. In the past 24 hours alone there were more than 10,000 migrant encounters at the Southern Border – a near record-high.

Senate Republicans have solutions. In case you missed it, here’s what Republican Senators said during a recent press conference about the importance of strengthening border security and Joe Biden’s failure to act.

Senator Bill Hagerty (TN)

“The United States is in the midst of a border crisis like nothing we’ve ever seen before […] In my home state of Tennessee, we’re losing people every day to fentanyl. We’ve got more encounters of people on the terrorist watchlist than ever before coming across the border. In fact, well over a hundred and seventy different nationalities have been apprehended crossing the border illegally since Joe Biden took office. We have a national security threat of epic proportions in our border.”

Senator John Barrasso (WY)

“Joe Biden has surrendered our southern border. He surrendered it to drug dealers, criminal cartels, and gang members. […] They get here, and then they vanish. That’s what we’re dealing with in the United States today.”

Senator Shelley Moore Capito (WV)

“What’s happening in the interior once they get here – it is catch and release. You come in, you register, and you’re on your way. And then guess what? You wait ten years. Ten years before your case is actually heard, if it gets heard even because of the backlog. There’s six million people in the backlog right now. And you can imagine, it’s doubling every three years because of the inadequacy of the Biden administration.”

Senator John Cornyn (TX)

“Think about those Americans who died as a result of drug overdoses or fentanyl poisoning Think about their families. And then think about the 300,000 unaccompanied children. […] What’s it going to take to get the attention of Senate Democrats and House Democrats to work with us to try to come up with a solution? Safe, orderly, and legal immigration is the way we should go – not the disaster we’re currently experiencing and seeing now on a daily basis.”

Senator Joni Ernst (IA)

“We have flown over the border, and we have seen those [border wall] materials laying there unused in the desert. We should be taking those materials and securing the Southern Border. Instead, President Biden has decided, ‘Let’s make a couple bucks out of all this.’ […] President Biden, we’re calling on you to secure the Southern Border.”

Senator Ted Budd (NC)

“In order to be a strong nation, we have to have strong borders. And right now, we don’t have that. Our border is broken […] All we need is a president who cares about saving lives and keeping us a strong nation. Right now, it’s just clear to all of us that Joe Biden and his White House, they’re just simply not up to this task.”

Senator Katie Britt (AL)

“If you look back over [Biden’s] administration, there have been 2.3 million people that have come here. Alabama – the 24th largest state in the nation – and that is about half of our population of five million […] If you look, that was the last fiscal year alone. If you look at the total compilation to this point in his administration, we’re at about seven million. […] We just hope our other colleagues on the other side of the aisle will wake up, join forces, and do something for the American people. Our children are counting on it.”

Senator Ron Johnson (WI)

“Back there in 2014 Obama declared a humanitarian crisis when as many as 2,000 people were crossing the border per day […] This administration won’t even bring itself to call this a problem. They call it a challenge, and their solution is just getting far more efficient at encountering. […] Pay attention to this. Show the American people the disaster that President Biden has caused at the border and the inhumanity of his policies.”

Senator John Hoeven (ND)

“The problem is the Biden Administration is not enforcing the law. We could pass a hundred laws, but if the Biden Administration’s not going to enforce the law, what difference does it make? Enforce the third safe country policy, enforce the remain in Mexico policy, and, of course, build the border wall, but enforce the law. It’s a matter of national security.”
