Vice President Biden noted yesterday that "the middle class has been buried the last four years." Republicans agree. Since the president was inaugurated four years ago, middle-class income has fallen, health insurance costs and college tuition costs have shot up, gas prices have skyrocketed, and the unemployment rate has been above 8 percent for 43 straight months. Four years of President Obama's policies have buried the middle class.
Republicans took to the Senate floor today to address the failure of leadership from the president and Senate Democrats. Never before have a president and a Senate done so little when America's challenges are so great. Democrats' response to a host of challenges, from an unemployment rate over 8 percent to a soaring national debt, has been to do nothing. The American people deserve better. They deserve senators who live up to their responsibilities to tackle America's toughest problems head-on, instead of constantly pushing them down the road for future Congresses and future generations to solve.
